Commonly used for ROV thruster 3-phase motor power supply (brushless DC motor phases), solenoid valve 3-wire control, and compact subsea power distribution where 3 independent ~10A channels are needed in a single cable.

Yes. This is one of the most common applications for 3 x 18AWG screened cable. The 3 conductors carry the U, V, W phases from the ESC to the thruster motor. The individual screening and overall shield minimise PWM switching noise that could interfere with subsea sensor signals.
Yes. For motor drive applications, drain wires should be connected to the ESC chassis ground at one end only. Floating the drain wire at the motor end prevents ground loops while still providing effective EMI suppression of motor switching transients.
