16 Conductors 16AWG Underwater Screened PUR Cable | High Current ROV

16 conductors 16AWG underwater screened polyurethane cable. High current capacity for ROV thrusters, actuators, and high-power subsea systems.

Product introduction

16 Conductors 16AWG Underwater Screened PUR Cable

This heavy-duty underwater cable provides 16 x 16AWG individually screened conductors for applications requiring higher current capacity per channel. At approximately 13A per conductor (subsea derated), this cable is suited for ROV thruster power, actuator drives, and other high-current subsea systems where 20--24AWG conductors are insufficient.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why use 16AWG instead of 20AWG for ROV thruster control?

ROV thrusters can draw 5--15A each depending on thrust class. At 20AWG, voltage drop and thermal losses over a 100+ metre tether become significant, reducing available torque and efficiency. 16AWG reduces resistance per unit length by approximately 50% compared to 20AWG, significantly improving power delivery efficiency.

Can adjacent conductors carry opposite phases without crosstalk?

Yes. Each conductor is individually screened, preventing crosstalk even when adjacent conductors carry opposing polarity PWM signals for brushless motor control. This design is specifically validated for ROV thruster applications.
