3x2x22AWG + 1x2x18AWG Underwater Shielded Twisted Pair Cable

3 pairs 22AWG + 1 pair 18AWG shielded twisted pair underwater cable. PUR jacket, mixed-gauge for combining low and high-power signal channels in ROV subsea systems.

Product introduction

3x2x22AWG + 1x2x18AWG Underwater Shielded Twisted Pair Cable

This mixed-gauge underwater signal cable combines 3 x 22AWG shielded twisted pairs for low-power signal channels with 1 x 18AWG shielded twisted pair for higher-current or lower-impedance signal needs. Enclosed in a PUR jacket, it is designed for ROV and subsea systems where different signal types -- sensor data, control commands, and power signals -- must share a single cable run.

Parameter Specification
Light Signal Pairs 3 x 2 x 22AWG (individually shielded)
Heavy Signal Pair 1 x 2 x 18AWG (shielded)
Jacket Material Polyurethane (PUR)
Voltage Rating 300V RMS
Temperature Range -30°C to +80°C
Depth Rating Up to 4,000 m
Overall Shield Foil + braid

Key Applications

  • ROV mixed-signal tether sections
  • Subsea sensor + power-signal combined cable

Frequently Asked Questions

Why combine 22AWG and 18AWG pairs in one cable?

This configuration is ideal when most signal channels are low-power (22AWG is sufficient for RS-485, 4--20mA, or low-voltage analogue), while one channel requires higher current capacity or lower resistance -- for example, a solenoid valve pilot signal or a motor brake release pair. Combining them in one cable reduces the total number of cable runs needed.

Is the overall shielding of the cable connected to all individual shields?

The overall braid/foil shield is a separate layer from the individual pair shields. Individual pair shields are typically connected at one end only (single-end grounding) to avoid ground loops, while the overall shield is grounded at the control unit end for maximum EMI rejection.
