4 Twisted Screened Pairs 18AWG Underwater PUR Cable | High Current Signal

4 individually screened twisted pairs 18AWG underwater PUR cable. Higher current capacity signal pairs for ROV and subsea power-signal applications.

Product introduction

4 Individually Screened Twisted Pairs 18AWG Underwater PUR Cable

This underwater PUR cable provides 4 individually screened twisted pairs at 18AWG, offering higher current capacity than 20--24AWG alternatives. Ideal for ROV applications where signal pairs must also carry moderate currents -- such as solenoid valve drivers, relay control lines, or actuator signals -- while maintaining full electromagnetic shielding and seawater resistance.

Parameter Specification
Signal Pairs 4 x 2 x 18AWG (individually screened)
Current (per conductor) ~10A (derated for PUR jacket, subsea)
Jacket Material Polyurethane (PUR)
Voltage Rating 300V RMS
Temperature Range -30°C to +80°C
Depth Rating Up to 4,000 m
Overall Shield Foil + braid

Key Applications

  • ROV solenoid valve control cable
  • Subsea actuator drive and feedback
  • Underwater relay and switch control
  • Marine instrument high-current output
  • Offshore subsea valve positioner cable

Frequently Asked Questions

What current can 18AWG conductors carry in a subsea environment?

18AWG conductors carry approximately 10A in a subsea PUR-jacketed cable (derated from the 14A free-air rating). For higher current requirements, we recommend 16AWG or 14AWG conductors. Contact us for conductor sizing calculations based on your load profile.

Is 18AWG suitable for RS-485 long-distance communication?

Yes. The lower resistance of 18AWG vs. 22/24AWG is actually beneficial for RS-485 over long cable runs, reducing signal reflections and voltage drop. 18AWG pairs are commonly used in RS-485 installations exceeding 500 m.

Applications

  • Underwater cable assemblies for ROV, AUV and subsea vehicle power and signal delivery
  • Subsea sensor and instrument cabling requiring flexible, abrasion-resistant PUR jackets
  • Marine renewable energy cable connections, offshore platform and coastal installations
  • Underwater lighting, camera and video system cable assemblies with connector terminations
  • Custom umbilical cables for oceanographic research and temporary subsea deployments

Customization Options

  • Custom cable lengths from 1m to 1000m+ with specified conductor counts and gauges
  • Direct moulding termination to any ROV Connector series for complete cable assemblies
  • Neutral buoyancy options, Kevlar reinforcement and specialized jacket colors available
  • Certified cable tension, flex and pressure testing with full test documentation
