It provides 8 independent, noise-immune signal channels for ROV systems, subsea sensor networks, and instrumentation arrays -- where multiple simultaneous data streams must be transmitted reliably through seawater without crosstalk or interference.

Yes. Each pair is independently shielded, so all 8 can simultaneously carry RS-485 at up to 10 Mbps over typical subsea cable lengths of 100--300 m. Each pair can also carry a different protocol -- mixing RS-485, 4--20mA, and discrete digital signals as needed.
Yes. PROFIBUS DP uses RS-485 balanced differential signalling, which the 20AWG screened twisted pairs support. Terminate with a 120-ohm resistor at each end of the PROFIBUS segment for proper bus termination.
