Fibre Optic + Power Hybrid Cable with Kevlar | Subsea ROV Tether

Fibre optic + power hybrid cable with Kevlar reinforcement. Single-mode or multimode fibre, PUR jacket, high tensile strength for deep ROV and subsea fibre deployments.

Product introduction

Fibre Optic + Power Hybrid Cable with Kevlar Reinforcement

This advanced subsea hybrid cable combines fibre optic elements (single-mode or multimode) with copper power conductors and a Kevlar aramid braid for tensile reinforcement, all enclosed in a PUR outer jacket. Purpose-built for ROV tether applications requiring high-bandwidth fibre optic data (HD video, Gigabit Ethernet, acoustic telemetry) alongside power delivery at depth -- with the tensile strength to support the cable's own weight and the ROV/payload mass.

Parameter Specification
Fibre Count 2 SM (G.652D) or 4 MM (OM3/OM4) -- custom
Power Conductors 2 x 1.5mm2 or custom
Reinforcement Kevlar (aramid) yarn braid
Jacket Material Polyurethane (PUR)
Voltage Rating 300/500V RMS
Depth Rating Up to 6,000 m
Breaking Strength 500--2,000 kg (depends on Kevlar weight)
Bend Radius 20x OD minimum (fibre protection)

Key Applications

  • ROV fibre optic tether cables
  • Deep-sea vehicle high-bandwidth data links
  • Subsea HD and 4K video transmission
  • Ocean floor observatory fibre power feeds
  • Military ROV and unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) tethers

Frequently Asked Questions

What bandwidth can fibre optic elements achieve at depth?

Single-mode fibre (G.652D) supports bandwidth limited only by the transceiver, practically achieving 10Gbps+ over several kilometres with no depth-induced attenuation. This enables full-HD, 4K, and even 8K video streaming from deep-sea ROVs.

How is the fibre protected inside the cable?

Each fibre is housed in a tight-buffered or loose-tube construction with gel filling and surrounded by Kevlar yarn. The overall Kevlar braid provides additional crush and tensile protection. The cable passes a minimum bend radius of 20x OD to prevent fibre damage during deployment.
