Underwater Cat6 Ethernet Cable | Subsea High-Speed Network Cable PUR

Underwater Cat6 Ethernet cable with PUR jacket. SFTP shielded, supports Gigabit Ethernet at depth for ROV, subsea instrument networks, and ocean observatory LAN.

Product introduction

Underwater Cat6 Ethernet Cable -- PUR Jacket SFTP

The underwater Cat6 SFTP Ethernet cable is designed for Gigabit Ethernet (1000BASE-T) in subsea environments. Four individually foil-shielded and overall-braid-shielded twisted pairs (SFTP) provide superior noise rejection against the electrical interference generated by ROV thrusters, sonar, and power conversion equipment. The PUR outer jacket ensures long-term performance in seawater, oils, and mechanically demanding environments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Cat6 better than Cat5a for ROV applications?

Cat6 offers a higher bandwidth (250 MHz vs 350 MHz for Cat5a, though both support Gigabit Ethernet). For most ROV applications the practical difference is small. Cat6 SFTP is preferred over Cat5a STP in high-interference environments because the S/FTP shielding provides superior common-mode noise rejection at higher frequencies.

Can this cable be used for PoE+ (802.3at)?

Yes. Cat6 SFTP supports PoE+ (802.3at, up to 30W) and Hi-PoE (802.3bt Type 3, up to 60W) simultaneously with Gigabit Ethernet. Verify the cable resistance per metre matches your PoE power budget for the specified cable length.
