10-core (5 twisted pairs) neutrally buoyant ROV tether umbilical. Foamed PUR jacket for multi-channel data ROV tether requiring 5 independent shielded pairs.
The 10-core 5-pair neutrally buoyant ROV umbilical provides five independent shielded twisted pairs for comprehensive multi-channel data communication in a foamed PUR buoyant tether. Five pairs can simultaneously carry Ethernet (100BASE-TX), RS-485 control, RS-232, analog signals, and a spare/redundant channel, giving the ROV a full data bus in a compact neutral-buoyancy tether. The foamed polyurethane (PUR) jacket uses a micro-cellular expanded jacket compound with a bulk density lower than seawater (~1.025 g/cm³), giving the cable near-zero or positive net buoyancy. This eliminates tether sag and reduces drag force on the ROV, improving vehicle manoeuvrability and reducing tether management workload during subsea operations.

The jacket is manufactured from a micro-cellular expanded (foamed) polyurethane compound. During extrusion, a controlled foaming agent creates millions of tiny closed-cell air pockets within the jacket wall. These air cells reduce the bulk density of the jacket below that of seawater (~1.025 g/cm³), producing positive or neutral net buoyancy. The jacket retains all the abrasion resistance, oil resistance, and flexibility of standard PUR while achieving the buoyancy needed for ROV tether applications.
1000BASE-T (Gigabit Ethernet) requires all four pairs of a Cat5e cable simultaneously. Since this cable has 5 independent pairs (not grouped as 4-pair sets), you can use any 4 pairs for a single Gigabit Ethernet channel and the 5th pair for RS-485 or analog signals. Cat5e 24AWG pairs are specified to meet 1000BASE-T requirements to 100 m.
