The 4mm non-positioning water leak detection rope is a sensing cable that detects the presence of water anywhere along its full length. When water contacts the sensing conductors, the electrical resistance changes and triggers an alarm in the connected leak detection controller. At 4mm diameter, this sensing rope is compact and discreet, suitable for deployment under raised floors, around server racks, under water tanks, and along pipe runs in data centres, server rooms, and critical facilities.

What is the difference between non-positioning and positioning leak detection rope?

Non-positioning rope detects that a leak exists somewhere along its length but cannot indicate exactly where. Positioning rope (see our n=811 product) uses a resistance-per-unit-length measurement to calculate the distance to the leak, enabling rapid location of the fault. For small rooms where any alarm is sufficient, non-positioning is cost-effective; for large data centres where rapid repair is critical, positioning rope is recommended.

Can the rope be reused after a water detection event?

Yes. After detecting water, dry the rope thoroughly (typically with compressed air or a dry cloth) and allow it to air-dry fully. Most detection events do not damage the rope, and it can be reused indefinitely. Replace if the jacket is physically damaged.

What controller do I need for this rope?
