4-core floating cable for ROV and pool cleaning robots. Foamed PUR jacket, positively buoyant, suitable for pool cleaning robots and shallow underwater ROV power cables.
The 4-core floating cable uses a positively buoyant foamed PUR jacket that keeps the cable floating at or near the water surface, preventing it from sinking and tangling with pool robot wheels, brushes, or propellers. With four independent conductors, the cable supports bidirectional motor drive (two pairs of +/-), multi-function control, or combined power and signal for the robot's electronics. This cable is widely used in pool cleaning robots, underwater vacuum systems, and shallow ROV applications. The foamed polyurethane (PUR) jacket uses a micro-cellular expanded jacket compound with a bulk density lower than seawater (~1.025 g/cm³), giving the cable near-zero or positive net buoyancy. This eliminates tether sag and reduces drag force on the ROV, improving vehicle manoeuvrability and reducing tether management workload during subsea operations.

Positive buoyancy keeps the cable at the surface and prevents it from sinking into the pool area where the robot is working. A neutrally buoyant cable would hang suspended at depth and could still interfere with the robot. For pool robots, positive buoyancy ensures the cable rides above the robot at all times.
Yes. Buoyancy (positive, neutral, or slightly negative) is tuned by adjusting the foam cell density in the jacket compound and the jacket wall thickness. Specify the required net buoyancy per metre (in g/m) and the water salinity (fresh / brackish / seawater) when ordering. We can also add a Kevlar or Dyneema strength member to increase tensile strength without significantly changing buoyancy.
