Product introduction

Optical Fiber and Power Series -- Complete Hybrid Underwater Connector Range

Shanghai Kabel Intelligence Technology Co., Ltd Optical Fiber and Power Series is a complete platform of hybrid wet-mateable underwater connectors that integrate optical fiber data channels and electrical power contacts in a single pressure housing penetration. The series spans 1 to 4 fiber channels (single-mode or multimode) combined with 2 or 4 power contacts, covering every hybrid connectivity requirement from simple single-channel video to complex multi-link subsea networks. All configurations are rated to 7,000 m depth, IP68 sealed, and compatible with SubConn® Hybrid Photoelectric Series.

Full Range Configuration Table

Model Fiber Channels Power Contacts Max Power Current Best For
PH-1F2P 1 (simplex) 2 10 A Single-channel fiber sensor + power
PH-2F2P 2 (duplex) 2 10 A Duplex Ethernet/comms + power
PH-4F2P 4 (2x duplex) 2 10 A Dual independent fiber links + power
PH-2F4P 2 (duplex) 4 10 A Duplex comms + dual voltage rails
PH-4F4P 4 (2x duplex) 4 10 A High-density fiber + full power bus

Why Choose a Hybrid Connector Over Separate Fiber and Power Connectors

  • Fewer hull penetrations: Each penetration is a potential leak path -- one hybrid connector replaces two, halving the risk.
  • Simpler operations: One mate/demate cycle instead of two -- faster ROV payload swaps, lower operator error risk.
  • Smaller installation footprint: One connector flange versus two reduces panel space and mass in weight-critical AUV designs.
  • Simultaneous connection guarantee: Power and fiber connect and disconnect together -- no risk of leaving fiber mated while power is disconnected or vice versa.

Applications

  • ROV fiber-optic video + camera power (2F2P standard)
  • AUV fiber umbilical + power termination (4F2P or 4F4P for dual-link redundancy)
  • Subsea observatory junction nodes -- fiber backbone + power distribution
  • Fiber-optic oceanographic sensor arrays with integrated power
  • Offshore acoustic modem arrays with fiber aggregation backhaul

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Optical Fiber and Power Series compatible with SubConn Hybrid connectors?

Yes. The mating face geometry and thread pattern are identical to SubConn Hybrid Photoelectric Series connectors of the same configuration. You can mix Shanghai Kabel and SubConn hybrid connectors of the same model within the same system.

What is the maximum fiber link distance supported through these connectors?

There is no distance limit imposed by the connector itself -- the insertion loss (< 0.5 dB typical) is the only connector-related contribution to your link budget. Maximum link distance is governed by your transceiver and cable specifications. Consult your optical link budget calculation to confirm margin.

Can I order a custom fiber + power combination not listed in the table?

Yes. Custom configurations (e.g., 3 fiber + 3 power, or 6 fiber + 2 power) are available on request. Contact sales@rovcable.com with your requirements. Non-standard configurations carry a minimum order quantity and extended lead time.
